Red disk

Red disks are one of the color variants of the utility disks. They can be collected by Murphy and later armed and dropped. They are sensitive to infotron hits. They do not chain-explode when consumed by explosion. They are not rounded.

Red disks are the most convenient way to create explosions.

Hitting

Red disks explode when hit by an infotron. Zonks can safely land on them.

Orion trick

Red disk can be used as a temporary assist in gravity. Murphy can drop an armed red disk and then stand on top of it. This alone can grant Murphy access to new areas. With right timing it is possible to evade the explosion and stand on top of the explosion cloud, gaining even more height. Some levels pair gravity and red disks to create long and complex paths that are only accessible by using this trick.

Red disk recapture bug

In older versions of Supaplex it was possible to re-capture the red disk after it have been dropped. With timing this allowed infinite re-use of a single red disk. This bug was fixed in SpeedFix.
